Party General Secretary Nong Duc Manh and the Vietnamese high-ranking delegation arrived in Beijing at 12.15 (local time), beginning an official visit to China at the invitation of the Chinese Party General Secretary and President, Hu Jintao.

They were welcomed upon their arrival by Chinese officials, including Head of the Communist Party of China's International Liaison Department Wang Jia Shui and Chinese Ambassador to Vietnam Hu Qianwen.

Vietnamese Ambassador to China, Tran Van Luat and his staff members, together with businesspeople, students and other Vietnamese residing in China were also present at the airport to welcome Mr Manh and his delegation.



Wang Jia Shui told VOV reporters that the Communist Party of China Central Committee and President Hu Jintao attaches much importance to the Vietnamese Party leader’s visit to China. They believed that the visit will bring the relations of friendship and co-operation between the two countries to new heights.


The official ceremony to welcome Party General Secretary Nong Duc Manh and his entourages will be held in the afternoon at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing. After that Mr Manh will hold talks with President Hu Jintao to discuss measures aimed at boosting bilateral relations as well as regional and international issues of mutual concern.
