The President of the Democratic Republic of Timor Leste, Jose Ramos Horta, will pay an official visit to Vietnam from April 26-29 at the invitation of State President Nguyen Minh Triet.

José Manuel Ramos-Horta was born on 26 December 1949. From 1974-1975, he was involved in the Revolutionary Front for an Independent East Timor (FRETILIN) and in 1975 he was appointed a Minister of External Affairs and Information.

He has been the second President of East Timor since its independence from Indonesia, who took office on 20 May 2007. He is a co-recipient of the 1996 Nobel Peace Prize and served as Prime Minister from 2006 until he won the 2007 East Timor presidential election.

Accompanying with President Horta will be Foreign Minister Zacarias Albano da Costa, Ambassador to Malaysia and Vietnam Juvencio Martins and several senior officials.
