Hokkaido is an ideal place for seafood lovers since it has King Crab (Tarabagani) and Snow Crab (Zuwaigani), two of the most favorites of the region.
The crab fishing season only begins in November and ends in March. The legs of king crab are big and packed full of delicious meat which just slips right out of the shell so smoothly.
Snow crab is well known as the winter delicacies of the sea in Japan. The meat is snowy white with a bright orange surface and has a fresh, sweet and slightly salty taste of the sea, with a touch of shellfish bitterness.
