The moves to suspend flights comes due to the rapid development of the COVID-19 globally which is being reflected in policies on entry restrictions and border closure among various nations.
As a result, air routes travelling across Southeast Asia, including to destinations such as Singapore, Thailand, Indonesia, Laos, Cambodia, and Myanmar will be temporarily suspended from March 21.
Routes to the UK and Japan will grind to a halt from March 23, to Germany and Australia as of March 24.
Earlier, Vietnam Airlines had previously suspended flights to China, Hong Kong, Macao, the Republic of Korea, France, Russia, Malaysia, and Taiwan.
The airline has also advised passengers who plan to fly internationally during this period to regularly check the flight schedule through the website www.vietnamairlines.com, and its app to get clear information about their journey.
In order to assist any affected passengers, Vietnam Airlines is to waive fees and conditions for changing flight dates and itinerary for all international passengers whose tickets are issued before March 25.
