Of the figure, over 474,000 were domestic tourists whilst 584,000 were foreign arrivals, according to the provincial department of tourism.
Occupancy at 3 to 5-star hotels and 1 to 2-star hotels were at 52 per cent and 26 per cent respectively.
In recent years, the number of tourists visiting Nha Trang has increased sharply with most hotels being fully booked regularly. Due to the increase in the number of hotel rooms available, some hotels have been forced to lower their rates to attract visitors.
Despite the strong figures, the province still lacks high quality tourism services such as an entertainment complex. Moreover, it still needs to develop unique tourism products such as sea-based sports games in order to entice more visitors in the future.
According to the provincial tourism department, Chinese and Russian tourists accounted for the majority of visitors to Nha Trang during January and February.
In 2019, the tourism sector aims to welcome more than 6.8 million visitors to the province, including 3.3 million foreign tourists, a 7 per cent increase in comparison to 2018.
