Khanh Hoa celebrates welcoming 3.5 millionth foreign tourist

VOV.VN - The Khanh Hoa Department of Tourism, and the Airports Corporation of Vietnam (ACV),co-organized a ceremony on December 18 to commemorate the landmark of 3.5 million international tourists and 10 million visitors passing through Cam Ranh International Airport during 2019.

The landmark was achieved at 10am on December 18 when Vietjet Air’s flight VJ837 landed at Cam Ranh International Airport with two special guests onboard. They were Jung Yoo-hee of the Republic of Korea who became the 3.5 millionth foreign tourist to visit the region, followed by Pham Duy Khiem of Vietnam who became the 10 millionth arrival at Khanh Hoa’s Cam Ranh International Airport.

Upon addressing the welcoming ceremony, Nguyen Dac Tai, Standing Vice Chairman of the Khanh Hoa Provincial People's Committee, noted that throughout the year, Khanh Hoa has successfully organised a wide range of cultural, sporting, and art activities for National Tourism Year 2019.

These events have made a significant contribution to increasing co-operation among various provinces and cities, domestic and international enterprises, in addition to accelerating international integration, creating favourable conditions for the development of resources, as well as elevating the image of Vietnam and Khanh Hoa province.

Since the beginning of the year, a total of 7 million tourists have visited Khanh Hoa, up 13.3 per cent over last year. 

Of the figure, the number of international visitors enjoyed a surge of 27.5 per cent to 3.5 million, while tourism revenue stood at an estimated VND 27,100 billion, an increase of 24.2 per cent on-year.

International tourists were largely made up of visitors from China, Russia, the Republic of Korea, and Malaysia, with Russian and Chinese visitors accounting for 80 per cent of all international tourists to the locality.

During the course of the year so far, Cam Ranh International Airport has safely served approximately 58,000 flights, while 10 million passengers have travelled through the airport, including over 6.4 million international passengers, up 22 per cent from last year.
