The firm has its sights set on gaining 30 per cent of the domestic aviation market share and increasing the size of its total fleet to 100 aircraft, with the inclusion of 12 Boeing Dreamliner 787-9 wide-body aircraft.

Dang Tat Thang, Vice President and General Director of Bamboo Airways, stated that the two new aircraft have been welcomed into the fleet by being named after two of the nation’s emerging tourism destinations such as Sam Son and Quy Nhon.

The two aircraft will be used on the routes between Hanoi - Phu Quoc and Ho Chi Minh City - Thanh Hoa to meet the additional travel demand that occurs around the Lunar New Year, said Thang.

Thang added that throughout the year, Bamboo Airways will be operating up to 12 Boeing Dreamliner 787-9 wide-body aircraft.

Back in December 2019 Bamboo Airways had welcomed the first of the aircraft by naming it "Ha Long Bay" following its delivery from the Boeing South Carolina Delivery Centre in the United States.

The aircraft first came into commercial operation on January 1, operating on the Hanoi-Ho Chi Minh City route and has gone on to receive plenty of positive feedback from customers.

Throughout 2019 Bamboo Airways conducted approximately 20,000 safe flights and carried roughly three million passengers.

The airline is aiming to expand its flight network to cover 85 routes, including 60 domestic routes and 25 international ones.
