Delegates discussed aspects of ASEAN tourism development and devised clear solutions for sustainable development within the tourism industry to be implemented.
In his opening address, Nguyen Trung Khanh, general director of Vietnam National Administration of Tourism, emphasised that tourism is the inevitable development trend of ASEAN member states and other nations in the world. Tourism activities have made remarkable contributions to the socio-economic development of the wider Asian region.
He noted that tourism development within the regional bloc will help build a mutual understanding of culture, politics, and assist in promoting bilateral and multilateral cooperation in the grouping, adding that preserving the unique cultural values of each nation remains at the heart of working towards sustainable tourism development.
Under the theme ‘ASEAN-The Power of One’ the ATF 2019 aims to consolidate common goals set by ASEAN member nations towards a “One Vision, One Identity, One Community” ASEAN region.
Vietnam’s successful hosting of ATF 2019 will contribute to bring practical efficiency to tourism co-operation within the ASEAN region. Progress will elevate the image of Vietnam in the region and across the world as well as introducing delegates to the country’s typical tourism products, especially different forms of tourism such as resorts, MICE (meetings, incentives, conferencing and exhibitions),and cuisine.
The ATF 2019 is transpiring in Quang Ninh from January 14-18. On the sidelines of the event, organisers will also arrange tours to Ha Long Bay and Yen Tu for the participating delegates.
