According to the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, export value of key farm produce hit US$3.3 billion, a year-on-year rise of 27.8%.
Meanwhile, revenue from aquatic and forestry product shipments reached US$1.2 billion and US$1.43 billion, increases of 29.5% and 28.5%, respectively.
In February, Vietnam earned US$179 million from export of about 369,000 tonnes of rice, raising the Jan-Feb rice exports to 861,000 tonnes, worth US$419 million, up 17.2% in volume and 34% in value over the corresponding period in 2017.
Other products saw increases in both volume and value, including coffee, tea, cashew nuts, vegetable and fruits, cassava, and cassava products.
Cashew nut export topped the list in the Jan-Feb period, with 54,000 tonnes shipped abroad, worth US$555 million, up over 73% and nearly 95%, year on year. It was followed by vegetables and fruit, worth US$672 million, up 59.5%.
Export revenue of rubber and pepper increased 29.5% and 36.5% to US$348 million and US$121 million, respectively.
According to the Ministry, agro-forestry-fishery imports in February were estimated at US$2.57 billion, raising the total value in the first two months to US$5.29 billion, a year-on-year increase of 30.6%.
