Flood sweeps away a bridge and 2 locals in Thanh Hoa

(VOV) -Heavy rains and floodwaters caused great losses to people in Thanh Hoa central province in the last four days after the Ma River banks were broken.

Flood ruined a VND20 billion (US$917,400) bridge crossing the Ma river and as a result, a total of 334 of families in the villages of Sa Lang, Gia and Vui in Thanh Xuan Commune have been isolated.

Torrential rains poured down the upstream areas of the Ma River, submerging 77 houses and 300ha of crops and fruit trees.


Nearly 112 households have been relocated.

Traffic was halted as major landslides hit a section of Highway 15C which links Quan Hoa and Muong Lat districts in Thanh Hoa province.

The flood damaged Hoi Xuan Hydropower Plant.
