Typhoon Chebi headed towards the Bac Bo (Tonkin) Gulf and weakened into a low tropical depression on November 14, according to the National Hydro-Metrological Forecasting Centre.

By 07.00 am, the typhoon was about 450 km from the central coasts stretching from Quang Ngai to Thua Thien-Hue provinces. It was moving east-southeast with winds of between 62-74km/hour at its centre. The weather forecasting centre said the typhoon will continue to weaken and will no longer affect central Vietnam.

However, due to a weak cold snap from the north, the central costal region will continue to experience strong winds and torrential rains in the coming days.
