A high-level delegation led by Lao Vice President Bunnhang Volachit paid a working visit to the northern province of Tuyen Quang on July 19.

The visit was part of activities to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Vietnam-Laos diplomatic ties and the 35th anniversary of the signing of the Friendship and Cooperation Treaty.

Mr Volachit expressed his delight at visiting Tuyen Quang- a revolutionary place where Lao Prince Suvanuvong and President Kayson Phovihan met late President Ho Chi Minh.

Vice President Volachit said the close-knit relationship between Laos and Vietnam has been strengthened through the regular exchange visits by senior leaders.

On the result of cooperation with Laos’ Xieng Khouang province over the years, Secretary of the Tuyen Quang provincial Party Committee Nguyen Sang Vang said his province is ready to share experience with Lao provinces in rural development, especially in tea growing to promote the time-honoured friendship between the two countries.

While in Tuyen Quang, the Lao delegation visited the Tan Trao revolutionary relic site in Son Duong district and the Lao revolutionary relic site in Yen Son district.

To mark the above-mentioned anniversaries, the Lao Defence Ministry held a meeting in Vientiane the presence of senior Lieutenant General and Deputy Prime Minister Douangchay Phichith, Deputy Minister of National Defence Sengnouane Sayalat and Vietnamese Chief Defence Attache to Laos Colonel Nguyen Phu Hai.

Both host and guest highlighted the constant growth of traditional friendship, special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between the two countries.
