The suggestion was recently put forward by Vice President of the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) Tran Quoc Tuan.
With the COVID-19 epidemic showing no signs of abating, the VFF and the Vietnam Professional Football Company (VPF) have been in discussions regarding different plans for the 2020 V.League 1 season.
One of the mooted options is that all teams would play their fixtures in a single venue. It is hoped that this plan will limit the amount that teams need to travel by air.
“We will implement all possible measures to ensure players’ safety and security,” said Tuan.
The tournament is considered a challenging test for national players ahead of their Asian qualifying clashes for the AFF Cup 2020 and the World Cup 2022.
Following two rounds of matches played behind closed doors, the V.League 1 season has been paused until the end of March due to fears surrounding the COVID-19 epidemic. The league’s new schedule will be announced in due course.
