Vietnamese athletes win two silver medals in weightlifting event at SEA Games 30

VOV.VN - Weightlifters Tuan Anh and Thi Van secured two silver medals to add to the medal haul of the Vietnamese delegation on the fourth day of the ongoing 30th Southeast Asian (SEA) Games 2019 in the Philippines on December 4.

In the men’s 73kg category, Vietnamese weightlifter Pham Tuan Anh lifted a total of 304kg, coming in at 18kg under the competition’s overall winner from Indonesia but doing enough to win a silver medal.

Whilst in the women’s 71kg category, Nguyen Thi Van obtained a silver medal after successfully lifting a total of 214kg, just under the 216kg lifted by the overall winner from the Philippines.

Elsewhere Le Thanh Tung won a bronze medal in the men’s vault in the gymnastics-artistic event. Despite putting in a strong performance, he finished behind the athletes from Indonesia and the Philippines who won the gold and silver medals, respectively.

Following Tung, his teammate Do Thi Van Anh also clinched a bronze medal in the women’s vault in the gymnastics-artistic event.

Adding to the Vietnamese delegation’s medal haul, fencer Nguyen Thi Nhu Hoa won a bronze medal.

At present, the Vietnamese team at the SEA Games 30 has won 23 golds, 29 silvers, and 28 bronzes. They are currently ranked second in the medal tally.
