Despite the RoK team controlling the game from the opening whistle, the Vietnamese team defended well, with both teams going in goalless at half time.
It took until the 54th minute for the RoK to make a breakthrough with Lee Kyu Dong opening the scoring with a header.
The Vietnamese team, backed by the support of 5,000 home fans, turned the tie on its head as striker Cai Van Quy scored two goals in the 74th and 77th minutes to put the hosts 2-1 up.
Even with their courageous fightback, the Vietnamese team were unable to hold on to their lead as the Korean team hit back with two goals in the final minutes to give a final score of 3-2 in favour of the RoK.
Following their victory, the RoK became the champions of the tournament while the Vietnamese team had to settle for second place.
Elsewhere, Russia beat Myanmar 3-1 to secure a third-place finish.
