Martial artists Tran Thi Thanh Thuy, Le Duc Dong, and Vu Ngoc Son all won a gold medal in the women’s 70kg kurash, the men’s 66kg, and the men’s under 73 kg.
At present the Vietnamese delegation have won three gold, six silver and seven bronze medals.
Earlier in the day Vietnam also won several silver medals in the martial arts with sticks category. Nguyen Thi Huong finished second in the women’s under 50kg category.
Silver medals also went to Vuong Thanh Tung in the men’s 65kg category, while Nguyen Duc Tri lost to a rival representing the host nation, the Philippines, in the men’s 60kg category.
In addition, martial artist Van Cong Quoc lost to athlete Jesfer Huquire of the Philippines in the men’s under 55kg category.
The Vietnamese delegation’s weightlifters also won two silver medals through Nguyen Thi Thuy, who lifted 197kg in the women’s 55kg category, and Thach Kim Tuan, who lifted 304kg in the men’s competition.
Along with the silver and gold medal wins, a number of members of the Vietnamese sporting delegation also won several bronze medals on December 2 thanks to their outstanding efforts in the basketball, weightlifting, and wushu events.
The SEA Games 30 officially kicked off on November 30 and is scheduled to conclude on December 12 with the participation of athletes from 11 Southeast Asian nations. In total, approximately 8,750 athletes are competing across 56 different sports.
