During the first set which took place at the Gia Lam stadium, the U23 squad beat Kazakhstan with a score of 25/14.
Despite enjoying an early advantage, the Kazakhstan team fought back in the second set to equal the scoring.
Vietnam’s U23 team were unbothered and continued to get the better of their rivals 14/9 and 12/6, before enjoying a 25/21 win in the third set. The host team finally broke Kazakhstan’s resolve and recorded an easy 25/16 win in the last set. The match finished with a final score of 3-1.
The semifinals are scheduled to take place at 17:30 on July 20 with Vietnam taking on the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK), who defeated New Zealand 3-0 in the quarterfinals.
