Although Vietnam’s U19s faced a stronger team in Uruguay, they played positively in the first half and weren’t afraid to attack. After many chances went begging for a better finish, Vietnam opened the scoring in first half injury time thanks to a nice piece of skill from Huu Thang.
In the first minutes of the second half, Uruguay’s U19s dominated play. They took control of the game, putting the Vietnamese players under constant pressure. Uruguay’s players capitalised on their dominance with two goals in the 68th and 77th minutes.
Uruguay’s U19s won all three of their matches to take the championship title of the four-nation international friendly tournament.
At the same time Ivory Coast’s U19s beat Qatar 1-0.
Vietnam’s U19s took third in the tournament, they had a total of 3 points after 1 win and 2 losses, scoring 5 goals and conceding 7 in the process.
They will return to Vietnam to prepare for the 2018 Asian Football Confederation (AFC) U19 Championship finals, which will run from October 18 to November 4 in Indonesia.
