Nguyen Huu Thang, president of Ho Chi Minh City FC, confirmed that participation of his team in the ACC Championship and stated his aim of winning the tournament.
The competition will see a total of 12 club teams compete, with leading ASEAN nations Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, and Vietnam, sending two teams each to the event, whilst Myanmar and Singapore will each be permitted to send a single representative.
Ahead of the tournament, football clubs from the region’s smaller footballing nations such as Brunei, the Philippines, Laos, Cambodia, and Timor-Leste will take part in play-off matches as a means of selecting two teams to progress to the competition.
Following the selection of all the participating teams, the competition will then see teams divided into two groups, with the first and second place teams from each group progressing to the semi-final round.
The competition’s eventual winner will receive a cash prize of US$400,000.
