Despite having the disadvantage of holding the black pawn in his final match of the tournament, Liem, Elo rating 2694, still enjoyed a successful day as he tied with Shankland Sam of the UK, Elo rating 2717, after 38 moves.
The draw earned Liem a total of six points from 10 matches to give him the overall lead in the tournament.
Xiong Jeffery of the US, Elo rating 2684, held his compatriot Swiercz Dariusz, Elo rating 2667, to a draw.
The result meant that he had earned 5.5 points in total and finished the tournament ranked in second place.
