Japanese player Nakai, 156th in the world rankings, was able to defeat Thuy Linh, 47th in the world, 2-0 (21-13 and 21-18) during the course of the final.
Despite her best efforts, the tournament represented a difficult challenge for the Vietnamese player who was forced to play the final on the same day as her semi-final victory.
The semi-finals of the tournament saw Linh take on Brittney Tam of Canada, the competition’s number one seed and 43rd in the world, with the tie lasting for approximately one hour.
The first set saw Linh suffer a quick defeat, however she was able to reverse the deficit and come back to win the remaining two sets, beating Canadian rival Brittney Tam 13-21, 22-20, and 21-19.
Following the conclusion of the tournament, there is the potential for Linh to move ahead of her teammate Vu Thi Trang, who is placed at 46th in the world, when the world rankings are announced this week.
Both Trang and Linh are competing to represent the country at the upcoming 2020 Tokyo Olympics.
