The annual cycling tournament is being held to celebrate both the 74th anniversary of the August Revolution, which took place on August 19, 1945, and National Day, which was first held on September 2, 1945.
84 cyclists are to compete in 14 teams from across the country on an 879-km long journey which is divided into nine stages. The route will take competitors through 11 provinces and cities along the Mekong River Delta.
Following the opening ceremony, cyclists will compete in the competition’s first stage from Can Tho City to Bac Lieu City, which has a total length of 107km.
The tournament aims to find talented riders for the Vietnamese national cycling team in preparation for international events, particularly the 30th Southeast Asian Games which will be held in the Philippines from November 30 to December 10.
