VND700 bln raised to fund the fight against the COVID-19

VOV.VN - A total of VND683 billion has been raised for a campaign launched by the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee to fight against the novel coronavirus (COVID-19), with the money set to go towards prevention and control work, according to Nguyen Huu Dung, Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee.

Dung released the information at a ceremony held on April 1 which aimed to gather support from the Party Central Office, the Presidential Office, the Government Office, the National Assembly Office, along with several other organisations, individuals, and businesses from across the country.

During the ceremony, Dung pledged that the proceeds will be transferred to the Ministry of Health who will use the money to fund the purchase of medical equipment for use in the treatment of patients, in addition to supporting quarantine areas nationwide.

Moreover, the Vietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee will also be using some of the funds raised to support families who find themselves in difficult circumstances, especially those who have been affected by the epidemic during their isolation period.
