Information about the country’s boost in the rankings comes following the release of the E-Government Development Index (EGDI) 2020 report by the United Nations themed 2020 Digital Government in the Decade of Action for Sustainable.

With this ranking, Vietnam has maintained its record of consecutive increases since 2014, rising from 99 to 86 in the process.

Gaining 0.6667 points in EGDI value, Vietnam is among e-government developing countries with a high index, a score which is higher than the global EGDI average of 0.5988 points, the Asian average of 0.6373 points, as well as Southeast Asia average of 0.6321 points.

In Southeast Asia, Vietnam has successfully retained the same position as 2018, ranking sixth among 11 countries, behind Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Brunei, and the Philippines.

Following the drastic guidance of the Government, the Prime Minister, and relevant agencies, the number of online public services available at a grassroots level has also increased sharply in recent times.

Most notably, the Ministry of Information and Communications and the Ministry of Health now offer 100% of services online.
