Vietnam reports 18th case of COVID-19 infection

VOV.VN - The discovery of the nation’s 18th case of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) has been confirmed by the Ministry of Health with the latest case involving a 27-year-old male from the northern province of Thai Binh.

The patient was transferred to the isolation ward of the infection department at Ninh Binh General Hospital for the purpose of undergoing strict monitoring and treatment at noon on March 7, while the Central Institute of Hygiene and Epidemiology announced that the patient had subsequently tested positive for the COVID-19.

The male patient had visited Daegu city in the Republic of Korea on February 17, before returning home on flight VJ981 from Busan to Van Don International Airport on March 4.

Upon his arrival in the country, the patient was put into isolation where his test results came back positive for the virus.

At present, the Steering Committee for COVID-19 prevention and control has moved to implement drastic measures aimed at controlling and preventing the epidemic with the latest incident marking the country’s 18th case so far.

According to the Ninh Binh Department of Health, a total of 953 people have been put into quarantine throughout the locality as of 17:00 on March 6, with a total of 11 cases having had their 14-day isolation period come to an end.

The provincial health sector has also been active in co-operating alongside the provincial Military Command to strengthen control, quarantine activities, and supervision over people arriving from countries affected by the COVID-19 at concentrated isolation zones throughout the locality.
