According to the report released by the local steering board for natural disaster prevention control, search, and rescue, heavy rains and gale force winds killed one person in Tinh Bien district and also ruined 604 houses throughout the locality on the afternoon of July 23.
The natural disaster also flooded a fishing raft in Tan Chau commune, brought down two electricity poles, and destroyed a number of public works in Phu Tan district.
Representatives from local authorities have sent messages of condolences and provided support to affected families. They have also arranged temporary accommodation for those who have been displaced as a result of the extreme weather.
Vital supplies such as rice and other essential foods have been delivered to residents in affected areas.
The provincial People’s Committee has also been directing relevant units and localities throughout the region to support the hardest-hit households in a timely manner in line with existing regulations in order to stabilize the lives of local residents.
