The announcement on the removal was published in the Royal Gazette on May 15, 2020 and took effect on May 16, 2020.
It stated that the two countries had shown their effectiveness in preventing and containing the COVID-19 outbreak.
However, this does not mean that visitors from the two countries will be able to visit Thailand anytime soon.
Under the current Declaration of an Emergency Situation in all areas of the Kingdom of Thailand, the closure of entry/access points (land, sea and air) to Thailand remains in place until May 31, 2020.
The Civil Aviation Authority of Thailand (CAAT) on May 16, 2020 also issued its fifth notification extending a ban on all international passenger flights to Thailand until the end of June 2020.
