A tent collapsed at a construction site in Bai Chay ward, Quang Ninh province, killing a worker staying inside at the height of the storm. Meanwhile, a local resident in Hoa Binh province was washed away by rising floodwaters caused by heavy downpours.

Heavy rain also submerged thousands of houses and thousands of hectares of rice and subsidiary crops in northern and north-central provinces.

After making landfall at a speed of 20km per hour on August 2, storm Sinlaku moved further inland, weakened into a tropical depression and dissipated.

However, it is still dumping heavy rain on northern and central localities in a couple of days. Mountainous localities are warned about possible landslides and flash floods.
