Local residents are advised to stay indoors as much as they can, and they should only go out for food, medicine and other essential services for daily life. Factories, production workshops, pharmacies, markets, and supermarkets are permitted to remain open.

The municipal leadership has requested the Department of Health and the Da Nang Centre for Disease Control and Prevention to step up contact tracing and increase sampling capacity to early detect and quarantine suspect cases.

Stricter preventive measures will be put in place in medical facilities and field hospitals to avoid cross transmission of the virus, especially among doctors and nurses.

The Municipal Department of Industry and Trade is required to stockpile essential commodities until the disease is brought under control.

Da Nang city reinstated the social distancing order on July 26 after the first coronavirus case was detected the previous day, ending a 99-day streak without new locally transmitted infections in Vietnam.

The city has since seen a surge in COVID-19 cases, numbering 273 by 18.00hrs August 10. Most of the cases were patients, caregivers and those having contact with COVID-19 patients, alongside medical workers.
