Quang Tri reports two more COVID-19 cases

VOV.VN - The central province of Quang Tri has recorded an additional two novel coronavirus (COVID-19) cases, with a residential area in Gio Linh district being zoned off and put under lockdown as a result, according to local health authorities.

The latest patient is reported to be a 36-year old female who resides in Ha Thanh village of Gio Chau commune in Gio Linh district. She is currently an employee of Bao Chau Company in Dong Ha city and is also a colleague of both patient 750 and patient 833.

This comes after the woman visited several health centres throughout the region before being put into isolation and transferred to the provincial Hospital of Tuberculosis and Lung Disease to undergo a period strict medical surveillance on August 11.

The next is a 66-year old female residing in Ruong village of Huong Tan commune in Huong Hoa district and is the mother of patient 832. Her positive test comes after she took care of patient 832 between August 2 and August 7 at Quang Tri General Hospital.

She had moved around several departments in the hospital, the canteen, and restaurants surrounding the site before being put into quarantine at the provincial Hospital of Tuberculosis and Lung Disease.

Immediately after the detection of the latest COVID-19 cases, the Quang Tri People's Committee moved to swiftly cordon off a residential area in Ha Thanh village in Gio Linh district, a location that is home to 408 local residents.

Furthermore, a range of strict COVID-19 prevention and control measures has also been deployed across the region in line with regulations. At present, Quang Tri province has reported a total of six cases of COVID-19, along with one death.

Moreover, the nation has so far recorded 405 cases of community infection across 15 cities and provinces since the initial detection of fresh COVID-19 cases on July 25 in Da Nang.
