Quang Tri lays to rest remains of martyrs after discovery in Laos

VOV.VN - The remains of 16 martyrs who gave their lives in service to the country were finally laid to rest at the National Road No 9 Cemetery on May 5.

Hoang Nam, vice chairman of the Quang Tri People’s Committee, said that the province has been working in collaboration with Lao authorities since 1993 to search for and repatriate the remains of Vietnamese martyrs discovered in Laos.

This includes the remains of voluntary Vietnamese soldiers and experts who sacrificed their lives while serving in Laos during the war.

Following the detection and identification of national martyrs, the central province of Quang Tri received the remains of Vietnamese volunteer soldiers and experts at the Lao Bao international border gate on May 4.

This was followed by a ceremony held at the National Road No 9 Cemetery on May 5 aimed at paying tribute to the sacrifices of the fallen and to re-bury the repatriated remains after their arrival from Laos.
