Police forces successfully caught the two suspects at 4:00 in Hien Ninh commune as they were in the process of transporting 24 boxes of firecrackers weighing a total of 32 kg.
Upon their arrest, the suspects were identified as Le Minh Khoa, 46, and Le Manh Tung, 29.
After conducting a search of their apartment, the police were able to seize an additional 69 kg of illegal firecrackers.
Along with the arrests of Khoa and Tung, traffic police also stopped a motorbike driver who was carrying a suspicious bag and travelling around Dac Thang village in Gia Ninh commune at 3:30 on the same day.
The suspect fled the scene and abandoned his bag after noticing the police.
A search of the suspect’s bag led police to discover 24 boxes of firecrackers, weighing a total of 32kg.
At present, the incident is under further investigation.
The arrests represent the largest ever bust by provincial police of an illegal firecracker trafficking ring.
