From December 16 to 18 temperatures throughout the north of the nation have ranged between 23 and 27 degrees Celsius. However, the incoming cold spell is set to see temperatures drop to between 15 and 21 degrees Celsius
In addition to the drop in temperature, rain is expected to lash localities throughout the north from the evening of December 19, with the cold weather forecast to be especially prevalent early in the morning and in the evening.
Bearing the brunt of the cold snap will be mountainous areas such as Sa Pa and Mau Son which could experience temperatures as low as seven to 10 degrees Celsius.
Further south, downpours and thunderstorms are forecast to hit central provinces from Thanh Hoa to Thua Thien-Hue where temperatures will range from 18 to 20 degrees Celsius.
Throughout late December the northern region is expected to endure several cold spells which will last up to five days at a time. These cold periods will see temperatures drop and result in high levels of humidity.
