Malaysian court opens trial of Vietnamese defendant

The Shah Alam High Court in Selangor state of Malaysia on March 14 morning opened the trial of Vietnamese Doan Thi Huong, a suspect in the murder of the holder of a Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK) passport with the name of Kim Chol.

Earlier, Huong’s lawyer asked the Ministry of Justice and the Attorney General of Malaysia to release her after Indonesian suspect Siti Aisyah in the same case had been freed on March 11.

The trial has attracted significant media attention, with about 100 reporters covering it.
