At the same time, the Da Nang Municipal Administration also lifted the lockdown on residential areas of Quang Trung, Nguyen Thi Minh Khai and Hai Phong streets where nearly 3,000 residents are residing.

Do Van Thanh, director of the hospital, told VOV that nearly 400 doctors, nurses, patients and caregivers staying in the isolated hospital had twice tested negative for the SARS-CoV-2 virus.

“We are happy that the hospital has resumed operations, but the fight against the SARS-CoV-2 virus has yet to come to an end”, Thanh told VOV.

“We will only receive emergency cases and outpatients, but not inpatients in the first phase because the hospital continues to be disinfected to prevent the possible spread of the virus.”

A lockdown was imposed on the hospital on July 28 after a COVID-19 patient was detected in the premises. The lockdown order also applied to two other Da Nang-based medical centres, Da Nang hospital and Da Nang C hospital.

Da Nang C hospital was permitted to reopen doors at midnight August 8, while Da Nang General Hospital remains under the lockdown measure for another 14 days till August 25.

A coronavirus patient was detected in Da Nang on July 25, ending a 99-day streak without locally transmitted cases in Vietnam. The outbreak has spread to 15 cities and provinces across the country, with Da Nang being the epicenter, registering nearly 300 new cases.
