Local fishermen rescue 4 Filipinos at sea

(VOV) - Four Filipinos have been rescued and brought ashore by a fishing boat owned by Luong Cong Xuyen, a local in Phu Yen province.

They are Captain Fancisco M. Romillo (born 1951), and crewmembers Joel M. Manipol, Allan Romilo, and Dandy Piranle, Vietnam News Agency reported.

They were found in distress at sea near Song Tu Dong island of Vietnam’s Truong Sa archipelago on January 23. They said their boat had sunk before being saved by Vietnamese fishermen.

Upon their arrival on February 5, the rescued were provided with immediate medical check-ups and accommodation by doctors from the Phu Yen General Hospital and the provincial Border Guard.

They are recovering and waiting for return to the Philippines.
