Each of the students will enjoy the opportunity of receiving the Honda YES Plus Award worth US$10,000 if they choose to study abroad in Japan.
Alternatively, they could earn US$7,000 if they accept and participate in internships at universities, research institutes, laboratories, or companies throughout Japan for a period of between two and a half months to a year for a total of four years starting from the date on which they won the award.
Upon successful completion of the internship period, if the candidate is able to return to Japan to study for a Master's and PhD degree, he or she will receive an additional US$3,000 for academic and research work.
Le Huu Phuc, Deputy General Director of Honda Vietnam, said that with the desire to seek and develop young talent throughout the field of science and technology, since 2006, the Honda Foundation of Japan working in collaboration with Honda Vietnam and the Ministry of Science and Technology have jointly deployed the Honda YES award for students who display outstanding academic talent and are active in social activities in technology universities nationwide.
Following 14 years of successfully standing alongside Vietnamese students, the Honda YES Awards has recorded a total of 1,265 applicants whilst honouring 140 outstanding faces during their annual awards ceremony.
A total of 43 contestants continued to receive the YES Plus awards in order for them to study masters or undertake internships in Japan.
Most notably, many successful candidates have since returned to Vietnam in order to make a contribution to the home country's science and technology sector.
