Hoi An, Wernigerode become sister cities

(VOV) -An agreement has recently been signed in Berlin, Germany, marking the debut a sisterhood relationship between Vietnam’s Hoi An city and Germany’s Wernigerode town.

The signing ceremony was attended by officials and diplomats from both countries, as well as a large number of overseas Vietnamese in Germany.

Wernigerode mayor Peter Gaffert highlighted the significance of the agreement and pledged to create favourable conditions for the Vietnamese community in Germany. He noted Vietnamese people integrate well into the local community, Vietnamese restaurants provide quality services, and Vietnamese students excel in their studies.

Ambassador to Germany Nguyen Thi Hoang Anh hoped that the two cities will help strengthen Vietnam-Germany relations in the future.

On this occasion, a lantern festival was held in Wernigerode, showcasing thousands of lanterns made by Hoi An artisans. Other sports and cultural activities also took place with the participation of Vietnamese artists and Vietnamese expatriates in Germany.

Earlier, an economic forum was held to introduce investment opportunities in both countries, especially in Wernigerode and Hoi An.
