Currently, around 300,000-500,000 workers are working in 10 industrial zones (IZs) and 3 export processing zones (EPZs) in the city. More than 70% of them come from other provinces and cities and have low income. They cannot afford other entertainment services except watching TV, listening to the radio and surfing the internet.
The municipal Department has worked with Vinatech to install free Wi-Fi systems for these workers. The installation will be divided into two phases. The first phase, which takes place during the first half of this year, benefits around 10,000 people in District 7 and Thu Duc District. The second phase, implementing from December 2017 to June 2019, will serve around 100,000 people in the remaining districts.
Le Quoc Cuong, Vice Director of the Information and Communications Department, said free Wi-Fi for workers is significant and necessary to improve their spiritual lives.
