The HUFO’s funding was granted to Indira Lopez Arguelles, Consul General of the Republic of Cuba in Ho Chi Minh City, by Nguyen Van Manh, HUFO Vice President, along with Truong Thi Hien, President of the Vietnam-Cuba Friendship Association, HCM City chapter.

Speaking at the function, Arguelles expressed her profound gratitude to the fine sentiment displayed by the people of Ho Chi Minh City for Cuban citizens, affirming that the gift serves as significant encouragement for Cuban people as they attempt to get through the challenging period.

She noted that the funding will contribute to adding to the special solidarity and friendship that already exists between the two countries.

Moreover, the HUFO will continue to co-ordinate efforts alongside relevant agencies in the southern metropolis to provide financial support and donate goods in the near future to Cuba and other countries as they battle against the COVID-19 pandemic.

The funding comes after Vuong Duc Hoang Quan, President of the HUFO, presented over 23,000 antibacterial masks and medical masks on April 28, along with 100 litres of disinfectant solution to Vincent Floreani, the French Consul General based in Ho Chi Minh City.

The HUFO, in collaboration with the Vietnam-India Friendship Association in Ho Chi Minh City and the Indian Business Chamber in Vietnam, also donated 5,000 medical masks and 500 bottles of hand sanitiser to Cao Ba Quat Primary School in Phu Nhuan district to contribute to COVID-19 prevention activities.
