|Hanoi donates medical supplies to New York to aid in COVID-19 fight
Upon addressing those present at the hand-over ceremony, Mayor Chung emphasised that based on the Vietnam-US comprehensive partnership and the spirit of international co-operation and solidarity in the global fight against the COVID-19, Hanoi is keen on sharing its resources to help the authorities, emergency workers, and citizens in New York to overcome this challenging period.
The large supply of medical equipment includes 100,000 antibacterial cloth masks along with 50,000 medical masks, all of which were manufactured by Vietnamese businesses and come up to the high-quality standards set by the Vietnamese Ministry of Health. Indeed, they have since gone on to obtain the necessary CE marking that falls in line with European standards.
In accepting the gift, the US Ambassador to Vietnam Daniel J. Kritenbrink offered his congratulations to both the Vietnamese Government and the city of Hanoi on their effective measures in order to contain the epidemic, noting how the country and the capital have emerged as shining examples to the world on how to prevent the epidemic efficiently.
The US diplomat therefore extended his profound gratitude to the Vietnamese Government, organisations, and private enterprises that have offered several gifts to the US people over recent weeks in order to help them battle against the COVID-19.
The Ambassador added that the United States is facing numerous challenges, with New York being one of the location’s hardest hit by the pandemic
Ambassador Kritenbrink went on to express his belief that the supply of face masks donated by Hanoi will make a significant contribution to New York’s rapid response team in their fight against the pandemic.
Indeed, the move serves to boost the strong developments of the comprehensive partnership between the two countries, with the current year marking 25 years since diplomatic relations between the pair formally began.
