Fundraising campaign for flood victims launched

VOV.VN - The Vietnam Red Cross Society and the National Humanitarian Portal 1400 on August 9 launched an SMS campaign to assist flood victims in northern mountainous provinces.

During the campaign taking place until October 7, people are called to send  a text containing “UH” to 1409 with each massage being worth VND20,000 VND. All the money collected will be spent on buying essential goods, accommodation, and providing jobs for people affected by flash floods and landslides.

Other material aid can be delivered to the VRC headquarters at No 82 Nguyen Du street in Hanoi or its southern representative office at No 201 Nguyen Thi Minh Khai street in District 1, Ho Chi Minh City.

The Vietnam Red Cross Society also called on all its members and others to  make donations to natural disaster-hit areas.

Earlier on August 8, the VRC also called on its chapters, members and people nationwide to provide assistance for flood victims. The campaign will last until the end of September.

Torrential rains and subsequent flash floods hit northern mountainous provinces over the last few days, especially in Yen Bai, Son La and Lai Chau provinces.
