The ship, numbered NA - 91927 TS, broke down while fishing roughly 70 nautical miles northeast of Lach Quen port in central Nghe An province at 8:30 on May 25.

The boat and the crew members aboard were put in danger due to the ongoing northeastern monsoon which caused strong winds and thick fog.

Upon receiving the news of the vessel adrift at sea, the MRCC dispatched its rescue ship SAR 273 to initiate a search for the fishing boat.

Following a 10-hour search operation, the fishing boat with all 17 fishermen on board was rescued and successfully towed to the port of Nghe An.
