The central city is hosting the naval ship during its visit as part of the Indian Navy's deployment in Southeast Asia.
Crew members, led by captain Ashwin Arvind, enjoy a warm welcome from representatives of the Da Nang Department of Foreign Affairs, the Department of Foreign Relations under the Ministry of National Defense, the Naval Command of Military Region 5, the Naval Command of Region 3, along with other relevant units.
The visit will comprise of a series of joint exercises and professional exchanges between members of both navies. These include friendly sporting activities, meetings between the top Indian and Vietnamese naval officers, a tour of the city, and a visit to the Indian naval ship by members of the Vietnamese Navy and local students.
The two navies will also participate in joint training exercises in the waters off of the coast of Da Nang.
The visit aims to deepen the friendly bonds and co-operative relations between the two nations.
First launched in 2005, the INS Sahyadri is a Shivalik-class stealth multi-role frigate that has been built specifically for the Indian Navy. This class features improved stealth and land attack capabilities which are more advantageous in comparison with the preceding Talwar-class frigates.
