Cross-border drug trafficking ring busted in Vietnam

VOV.VN -Border guards in Long An province have cracked a major drug trafficking ring, seizing nearly 100 kg of drugs following joint efforts with the Investigation Police Department on Drug-related Crimes.

After receiving a tip off regarding the case, police forces immediately launched an investigation into the drug smuggler’s operations.

The police abruptly stopped a suspicious seven seater Toyota car, registered 51F - 310.13 in Tuyen Binh commune, Vinh Hung district, on May 12 when it was heading into Vietnam from Cambodia. 

Upon conducting a search of the vehicle a total of 20 cakes of heroin were discovered in addition to 57 kg of crystal meth, all of which were concealed within Tie Guang Yin tea bags and powdered milk bags.

Truong Quoc Cuong, 41, of Khanh Hung commune, Vinh Hung district, Long An province, who was driving the vehicle at the time was arrested at the scene.

The case is currently under further investigation.
