Cross border drug trafficking ring busted in Thanh Hoa

VOV.VN -Border guards in Thanh Hoa province have broken up a major drug trafficking ring operating out of Laos, seizing a large quantity of drugs in the process following joint efforts between local drug prevention units.

Police forces were able to catch a Vietnamese suspect red-handed at 8:30 on September 12 as he attempted to cross the border from Laos into Vietnam carrying a large amount of drugs.

The suspect was later identified as Sung Van Di, 55, of Xia Noi hamlet, Son Thuy commune, Quan Son district.

Upon conducting a thorough search of the scene, police were able to seize seven cakes of heroin, 56,000 pills of synthetic drugs, and a mobile phone.

Di admitted to transporting the drugs from Laos to Vietnam for the purpose of selling them on.

The case is currently under further investigation.
