A 40-year-old woman, a resident of Hanoi capital, took VN5002 flight from Saudi Arabia to Vietnam’s Can Tho International Airport on August 9 and was subsequently placed in quarantine in Bac Lieu province.

She was sampled on August 11 and the test proved she had carried the SARS-CoV-2 virus that causes the COVID-19 disease.

Meanwhile, two cases of community transmission are both Vietnamese, with one living in Ho Chi Minh City and the other in Quang Nam.

The Ho Chi Minh City resident, 53, moved to Quang Nam on July 28 to take care of her mother, who was later confirmed to have carried the virus, at the Quang Nam General Hospital.

She also had direct contact with another COVID-19 patient on August 29 and tested positive on August 12.

The other woman of Quang Nam province, 83, is the mother of a COVID019 patient. She was admitted to the Da Nang Hospital for treatment from July 9-23. She returned to her home in Hoi An town on July 23 and stayed there until she tested positive on August 12.

As of 6.00hrs August 13 Vietnam has recorded 883 coronavirus cases, including 322 cases returning from epidemic hit countries and territories.

Nearly half of the total (421) have been registered since the SARS-CoV-2 virus resurged in Da Nang province on July 25. The latest outbreak has spread to 15 cities and provinces nationwide and 17 fatalities have been reported.

According to the Ministry of Health, of the remaining 474 cases in hospital, 86 patients have tested negative at least once.

Currently, more than 133,000 people are in quarantine for medical surveillance at medical facilities, concentrated quarantine centres and places of residence.
