This is the first time no new infections have been registered for a single day in Vietnam.

According to the Ministry of Health, of the 251 confirmed cases, 156 had been exposed to infection before entering Vietnam from COVID-19 hit countries, including the United States, France, Germany, the United Kingdom, Russia and several Southeast Asian nations.

Ninety-five people had contracted secondary infection, and the remainder had acquired community infection.

To date, 126 patients have fully recovered from the disease, and two more are expected to be discharged from hospital on April 9.

The remaining 115 cases are being treated at healthcare facilities across the country, with most of them in stable health condition.

However, five patients’ condition deteriorated and they are now receiving oxygen support.

Health authorities said that dozens of the hospitalised cases have tested negative for the SARS-CoV-2 virus that causes the COVID-19 disease.
