COVID-19: Five more new cases recorded, 179 in total

VOV.VN - The Ministry of Health on March 29 morning confirmed an additional five new cases of COVID-19, raising the overall number of infections in Vietnam to 179.

Four of the new patients are said to be related to Bach Mai General Hospital in Hanoi, and one has been kept in quarantine immediately upon entry.

Cases No 175, 176, 177, 178, all Vietnamese, work for Truong Sinh Company which provides services to Hanoi-based Bach Mai Hospital. Three of them had interactions with many people in the local community.

The 179th patient is a 62-year-old Vietnamese national who lives in Ha Dong District, Hanoi. The patient returned from abroad on flight EK394 and entered the country on March 18. Upon entry, the patient was taken to a concentrated isolation area in the northern province of Thanh Hoa and is currently in stable health condition.

Vietnam has recorded a total of 179 cases of COVID-19 so far, of which 21 have been released from hospital after their complete recovery. The remaining cases are still being under treatment and strict monitoring at 20 hospitals across the country.

To date Hanoi has registered the highest number of positive SARS-CoV-2 cases nationwide with 68, trailed by HCM City (47), Vinh Phuc (11), Binh Thuan (9) and Quang Ninh (7).
