COVID-19: 257 infections in total with two new patients

VOV.VN - The total tally of coronavirus patients in Vietnam increased to 257 after the Ministry of Health announced an additional two new cases of COVID-19 on April 9 afternoon, with one in the northern province of Hung Yen and the other in Hanoi.

Case 256 is a 52 year- old Vietnamese man with address in Van Lam district, the northern province of Hung Yen. On March 27, the patient was put into concentrated isolation immediately upon entry after returning to Hanoi from Russia.

Case 257 is a Vietnamese citizen, 15, lives Me Linh district of Hanoi. The patient is a student, absent from school, and only stayed at home without going anywhere. On March 20, the 243rd patient, a friend of the patient's father, talked with the patient's father. On April 8, she showed indications of a fever, and runny nose. On April 9, her sample was taken for testing, which showed a positive result for SARS-CoV-2 virus one day later. The patient's father tested negative for the virus.

Currently, both fresh patents are being placed into isolation and receiving treatment at the National Hospital of Tropical Diseases No 2 in Dong Anh district of Hanoi.

To date, a total of 74,941 people who came into contact and returned from epidemic-hit areas, are undergoing strict health monitoring, of whom 720 are being kept in concentrated quarantine in hospitals, 24,329 are in concentrated isolation in other health facilities and 49,892 are self-isolated at home or at places of residence.

Of the 257 contracted coronavirus cases nationally, 144 have gone on to make a successful recovery from the respiratory illness.
